Menunaikan Ibadah Umrah

Umrah, derived from the word 'umrah,' means 'to visit' or 'to perform a pilgrimage.' In practice, it does not involve staying overnight in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Instead, Umrah is a visit to the Kaaba to perform a few acts of worship. The duration of Umrah is also shorter, unlike the Hajj pilgrimage. Umrah can be performed at any time, except on the days of Arafah, Nahr, and Tashriq

Sa'ie

After completing the Tawaf and its accompanying rituals, pilgrims should:

  1. Proceed to the Sa’ie area (Mas'a) to perform Sa’ie, starting from Safa Hill;
  2. Ascend Safa Hill while making zikir (remembrance of Allah) and supplication as one climbs;
  3. Upon reaching the top of Safa Hill, face the Qiblah and engage in zikir and supplication;
  4. Perform Sa’ie preferably on foot for those who are able, but wheelchairs or electric scooters may be used by those with physical limitations;
  5. Begin the Sa’ie journey from Safa Hill toward Marwah Hill while continuing to make dhikr and supplication;
  6. It is recommended to be in a state of ritual purity (wudu) while performing Sa’i, and the seven circuits should ideally be done consecutively, though brief or extended interruptions (such as for obligatory prayers) are allowed;
  7. Complete seven circuits, starting from Safa and ending at Marwah.

Sa’ie Area (Mas’a)

  1. One trip from Safa to Marwah counts as one lap. Likewise, the return trip from Marwah to Safa also counts as one lap. Therefore, the seventh lap ends at Marwah.
  2. Performing ar-raml (light jogging) is Sunnah for male pilgrims whenever passing between the green lights; female pilgrims should walk normally.
  3. Supplications and dhikr (remembrance of Allah) are recommended throughout the Sa’ie journey from Safa to Marwah and back.
  4. Dhikr and supplications are also encouraged each time one ascends Safa and Marwah during the seven rounds.
  5. After completing Sa’ie at Marwah, it is recommended to make a final supplication, but there is no Sunnah prayer required after Sa’i.

Shaving or Cutting the Hair (Tahallul)

After completing Sa’ie, pilgrims performing Hajj Tamattu' should shave or trim their hair. This marks the completion of the Umrah. The rules for cutting the hair are:

  1. Men should either shave their heads completely or trim a portion of their hair, while reciting a supplication for shaving;
  2. Women should cut a small portion of their hair, at least three strands;
  3. Bald pilgrims may simply pass a razor or scissors over their scalp as a symbolic gesture of shaving.

Once the pilgrim has shaved or trimmed their hair, their Umrah is complete, and they are released from the prohibitions of Ihram (Tahallul).
